Mike Reagan is a Composer, Songwriter, and Music Producer for Film, Television, and Interactive Media. His music has been recognized with an Interactive Academy Award, Grammy Award and Annie Nomination, to name a few. His scores have been recorded/mixed at Skywalker Sound, Abbey Road, Capitol Records, Larrabee Studios, and with the Seattle Sinfonia, Prague and Bratislava Philharmonic Orchestras.
Mike blends classical orchestral forms and world music with a hybrid twist of pop, electronic and acoustic elements. His hands-on approach as a multi-instrumentalist enables quick experimentation, as Mike plays keyboards, bass, guitars, drums, and percussion, but he’s also a wiz in the studio as a programmer and synthesist, commanding an array of analog toys and customized music software. This blend of artistic talent and masterful use of studio technology is Mike’s launchpad for innovation that continues to impress storytellers across all forms of entertainment.
Following his studies of guitar, composition, and music synthesis on scholarship at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, Mike began his professional career as a Sound Designer at Soundelux, Hollywood. Being mentored by a team of world-renown talent, he soon discovered a passion for blurring the lines between Score and Sound, creating a unique, score-like sound as a Sound Designer which was recognized with an Academy Award nomination for Sound Design in John Woo's FACE/OFF. It was during this project that Mike met Director John Woo, and Composers John Powell, Hanz Zimmer and other notable talent working at what is now known as Remote Control. It was this pivotal moment that inspired Mike to shift his focus toward a career as a composer.
While continuing his Sound Design career, Mike began simultaneously writing and producing original songs for various films, including Oliver Stone’s Any Given Sunday (“Miami Sharks Theme Song”) and Sony Pictures/Jim Henson’s Elmo in Grouchland (“Take the First Step”), which won the Grammy Award for Best Children’s Soundtrack. At the same time, Mike then began scoring top video games for Disney, Activision, Microsoft, Universal, and Sony Computer Entertainment including the God of War and Twisted Metal Franchises, as well as iconic properties such as Conan, The Transformers, Darkwatch, Darksiders, Marvel's Spider-Man, and many others.
As Film and TV projects soon followed, Mike found his way to a full time career as a composer, first with the films Unbeatable Harold starring Henry Winkler, and Magic Laptop starring Snoop Dogg. Episodic Television work soon followed, and to date Mike has written the scores and songs for hundreds of television episodes including Bob Boyle's Wow Wow Wubbzy, Rovio's Angry Birds Toons series, Cartoon Network’s The Powerpuff Girls, and the 2020 Netflix release of Chico Bon Bon: Monkey with a Toolbelt. Mike is currently scoring the upcoming feature film: Abby's List: a Dogumentary, scheduled for release in 2021.
